FBI Safe Online Surfing Program (FBI-SOS)
                                                                            
 
HELPING TO KEEP KIDS SAFE ONLINE!
 
The FBI Citizens Academy Alumni Association is proud to have adopted the FBI-SOS (Safe Online Surfing) Internet Challenge as one of our community outreach programs.
 
The FBI-SOS Internet Challenge is a FREE, educational, internet-based program that teaches elementary and middle school students how to recognize and react to online dangers.
 
Students take web-based quizzes and review specific websites aimed at promoting online safety. The school with the highest combined quiz score each month will win the FBI-SOS trophy and a visit from the FBIl!  

 

Parents:

 

  • Do you know the signs that your child might be at risk?

 

  • Do you know how to minimize    the chance of your child being exploited?

 

  • This program gives you a chance to TAKE CONTROL before something happens!

 

 

 

Educators:
 

  • Do you want to help your students recognize potential dangers associated with internet, chat rooms, and social networking sites?

 

  •  Are you interested in a free program designed by the FBI for kids in grades 5-8?

 


 


The FBI Citizens Academy Can Help:

 

 

 The FBI Citizens Academy can provide speakers to talk to PTA groups, faculty meetings, or clubs.

About FBI-SOS:

 

The FBI-SOS Program was developed in cooperation with the Crimes Against Children Unit at the FBI Miami Field Office and is administered by the Cybercrime Unit of the FBI.

 

The program is supported by sponsors whose name, logo and websites are used to guide participants to an internet safety tip. In exchange for a sponsorship/donation, thousands of students are directed to the sponsor's website to learn the safety information.  The safety tip then appears on the internet-based quiz that students take in their quest to win the FBI-SOS trophy and a visit from the FBI for their school.
